Music Diploma 2017

In 2017 I graduated from Capilano University with a Music diploma majoring in Vocal Performance. The process of achieving this diploma was incredibly challenging for me as I was not only far away from my support system, but I was also turning my passion into something I had to grind through. There were many moments of discouragement, but when I received my diploma, I realized how much I had grown in my musicianship. This diploma represents how sometimes the things that come easy to us need to be challenged in order for them to grow.

TRU Literature Excellence Award 2018

In 2018 I received a literature award from Ginny Ratsoy, one of my English Professors that year, for a paper I had written on how stories can change the environment. I wrote this paper from an Indigenous storytelling approach which was a new concept to me, and also changed the way I perceived Indigenous culture and ways of being. This award represents growth to me because I succeeded in an area I had never visited before, but was dedicated in learning and sharing my newfound knowledge.
