Studies in Canadian Literature: Nature

This was the very first course I had taken upon being enrolled at TRU. There was extensive Indigenous education which I had never experienced in such detail, which was an incredibly reflective experience for me. We were immersed in stories about how colonial actions led to the exploitation of the earth’s resources. Through poetry, novels, and short stories, I acquired an appreciation for Canadian authors who were writing on such an important topic. This course was incredibly valuable to me as I was reading about places that I have not only been, but identify with. Reading about these relatable places proved to me that education is enhanced when students can identify with a sense of place.
