An Introduction to Environmental Biology

Unfortunately my experience with the subject of science has not always been great. Until I took this course, I strongly believed that I just wasn’t cut out to do science. I needed this course to apply for the Education program and to say that I was nervous, was an understatement.

Another note before I go into detail about this course, I had been quite ignorant towards environmental issues. I grew up in a small logging town, so I carried a lot of biases with me before I enrolled in this course

This course incorporated education on aquatic and terrestrial biomes, human impact on the environment, and other systems that occur on earth. This was the first course that really informed me about how much pollution is in this world, and how much I add to it in my daily life.

This course challenged me academically, and personally as I had to revisit my biases and change the way I was living for the environment. I completed this course with an A+ which was a very pivotal moment in my education. I realized that with a growth mindset, I am capable of learning and succeeding in any area.
